Green Clean Secures Large Job

Beatitude House Green Clean spent this week cleaning the rectory at Sacred Heart Parish on the east side of Youngstown. Father Ken Miller hired Beatitude House Green Clean to do a one time deep clean on the 3 story 4,400 square foot facility. 

"The women are really excited over this opportunity," said supervisor Mary Kohut. "This is our largest job to date."  Beatitude House offers weely, bi-monthly, monthly and one-time cleanings.  If you are interested in environmentally friendly cleaning services contact Beatitude House Green Clean at 330-261-1584.

Beatitude House client, Jennifer was selected to particpate in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the dedication of the new wing of the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center [MCCTC].  The $14 million renovation and addition revealed to the public earlier this month, provides students with the latest technology.  MCCTC provides career training for adults and high school students throughout Mahoning County.

Jennifer is currently working toward her certification in Medical Assisting at MCCTC and was recently chosen for the Medical Assistant Student Advisory Board. In addition to attending MCCTC, the mother of three works part-time.  Jennifer said, "Beatitude House has changed my life and helped me provide a better future for myself and my children."

A House of Blessing Receives Grant

A House of Blessing in Youngstown is pleased to annouce they have received a $5,000 grant from Pollock Personal Foundation.  The grant will be used for capital improvements at the apartments on Fifth and Lora Avenues.  Beatitude House is planning on replacing old worn out gutters at the locations.

Families attend Disney on Ice

This past holiday season, families living at A House of Blessing in Youngstown and Warren attended Disney on Ice at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown. The group included fifty mothers and children, the youngest child was 18 months and the oldest 16 years.  Sr. Carla Rutter, Child Advocate in Warren said, "Everyone had a wonderful time.  I had a little one on my lap who was wide-eyed the entire time."

The outing was made possible thanks to members of Sr. Carla's family and the Patty McNicholas Enrichement Fund.  Activities such as this enable Beatitude House to foster healthy families, one of the areas Beatitude House mission focuses on.

Grant received for continued collaboration

Beatitude House is pleased to announce they have received a $10,000 grant from the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland.  This grant is designated for the continued collaboration between Beatitude House and Emmanuel Community Care Center, a program of the Humility of Mary Housing.

Through this collaboration, Beatitude House provides programming services to the families living at Emmanuel Community Care, including counseling and child advocacy.   The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland provides grants for projects that focus on improving the lives of those in need with special attention to families, women and children living in poverty.   

Child Advocate Hired in Youngstown

A House of Blessing in Youngstown is excited to announce the addition of Tajuana Hill to the staff.  Tajuana, a graduate of Youngstown State University will serve as Child Advocate for the families living at Beatitude House in Youngstown.  Prior to joining Beatitude House, Tajuana was a teacher in the Youngstown school system and also served as Youth Administrator of a neighborhood center in Youngstown.

Her desire to serve disadvantaged children lead her to the position of Child Advocate at Beatitude House.  Tajuana hopes to share her gifts to help motivate and empower the children and families of Beatitude House.  Welcome Tajuana!

New Employee for The Potter’s Wheel

Thanks to The Mahoning and Columbiana Training Association [MCTA], The Potter's Wheel will have a new employee beginning next week.  MCTA is the administrative and fiscal agent for Federal Workforce Investement Act Funds.  They provide job training services, including counseling and assesment, occupational classroom training and on-the-job training to residents of Mahoning and Columbiana Counties. 

Amber, a client of The Potter's Wheel recently received passed her OGT and obtained her high school diploma.  Through the MCTA she will be assigned to work at The Potter's Wheel were she will have the opportunity to learn clerical skills, including filing, document preparation, answering phones, etc.   Amber plans to attend Youngstown State University in the fall.
