Beatitude House Children Donate to Children’s Hospital

Posted on: February 18th, 2010

Last July, the children of Beatitude House in Youngstown held a lemonade stand and sold cookies and lemondade on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Lora.  In one afternoon they made a profit of about $100.00, including several large donations over and above the 25 cents per cup of lemonade and 25 cents per cookie.   After discussing how they wanted to use the money, they decided to help sick children at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Since then, they have collected an assortment of coloring books, crayons, stickers, drawing paper, card games and liquid bubbles to fill “Activity Bags” for the out-patients who visit the hospital for chemotherapy, tests or other health treatments.

The photos below show the children preparing the bags and  Darrayal and Shaun, Beatitude House Child Advocate, delivering them.

In addition to helping in the computer lab, Gary has been teaching anyone with an interest in music how to play the keyboard.  The women are excited and interested to expand their knowledge outside of school books!
