Cornerstone Date Announced

Beatitude House will hold its annual Cornerstone Dinner on Sunday October 17th at St. Michael Church in Canfield, OH.  The event recognizes Cornerstone donors and give them the opportunity to learn firsthand how their donations provide women and children with the opportunity to transform their lives.

Partnership continues . . .

Beatitude House Green Clean is pleased to announce they have been hired by MultiMedia Farms in Canfield Ohio, to clean their offices on a bi-montly basis. Currently the two organizations are working together to update and revise a promotional DVD created by MultMedia Farms that Beatitude House utilizes in its marketing efforts.

Beatitude House Green Clean supervisor Mary Kohut commented, "We are grateful to MutliMedia Farms for giving us this opportunity.  The relationship we have with them is wonderful and we look forward to continuing to work with them."

Scholarship received

A House of Blessing Youngstown resident, Jennifer Freels received a scholarship from Tri-County Medical Assistant Association to further her education in the medical field.  Jennifer will graduate in June from the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center with a certification in Medical Assisting.

Recently Jennifer began a 6 week externship with One Health Ohio as a Medical Assistant.  One Health Ohio seeks to make quality healthcare available and affordable in the communities they serve. 

A “Hero” Among Us

Sr. Mary Alyce Koval, Director of Education at Beatitude House was recently recognized as a Giraffe Hero by Abby Robison, a fifth grader at Glenwood Middle School in Boardman, Ohio.  A giraffee hero is a person who is willing "to stick her neck out to help others!" 

Abby read about Beatitude House in a local newspapers and wanted to learn more about the program. She was impressed by the generosity of the children at Beatitude House, who last summer held a lemonade stand to raise money for Akron Children's Hospital.  Sr. Mary Alyce met with Abby's class to explain how Beatitude House assists disadvantaged women and children in the area.

Coming full circle

Congratulations to former Potter's Wheel client Alisha Lively who earned her Occupational Therapy degree and it emplyed by TuDor Physical Therapy.  Several years ago Laura Dye, founder/owner of TuDor Physical Therapy was a guest speaker at The Potter's Wheel.  Alisha heard Laura speak and realized she too wanted to help others.  Alisha decided to pursue a degree in occupational therapy and now works for Laura at TuDor Physical Therapy.

Founded in 1993 as a Home Therapy practice, TuDor has gorwn to a staff of 60 with 9 locations throughout the Mahoning Valley.  The experienced diversified staff of specialized therapists strives to improve the quality of life for patients by offering the highest level of care possible using the latest in techniques and equipment.

Lionesses host luncheon

Every few months a group of women from the Lionesses Club come to The Potter's Wheel to recognize the hard work and dedication of the women involved in The Potter's Wheel and Permanent Supportive Housing programs.   this month the women enjoyed lunch which included chicken, macaroni salad and baked beans. Each women attending received a small gift as well. 

Terri Liller, Case Manager at The Potter's Wheel said "This luncheon is a wonderful way for the women to receive recognition and support from women in our community, it helps them to see that hard work comes with rewards."

Wine Taste a Success!!

Over 300 people gathered at The Embassy on Friday May 7th for the 11th annual Wine Taste & Auction for Beatitude House.  Among the items available for bidding were two puppies, donated by Eagle Cross Kennel, an afternoon of golfing for 8 at The Lake Club (included lunch and dinner) and tickets to see the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. the Boston Celtics.

Thanks to the support of local businesses and individuals approximately $70,000 was raised for Beatitude House programs.  Thank you to all who attended or supported the event!  We look forward to next year!!
